Clearwater Announcements: Lockdown Drill and Indoor Shoes/Water Bottles

Dear Clearwater Families,

We just have two announcements to share with all of you:
  1. Indoor Shoes and Water Bottles: Thank you for letting us send home indoor shoes and water bottles to wash over conferences! Now we need them back to prevent muddy boots from coming into the classroom and to stay hydrated.
  2. Lockdown Drill: Yesterday, we had a school-wide lockdown drill with intruder where we practiced gathering in a hidden corner of the classroom with the doors locked.  Shortly before the drill, we had a discussion with the children about what this would look like and why we practice this type of drill. Basically, we let the children know that the guides' most important job is to keep all of them safe, and that practicing this type of drill allows us to make sure we have done all we can.  We wanted to let you know of this drill since it might bring up further questions at home, but also so you could even take the opportunity to have an intentional conversation with your child about this unfortunate reality (if you feel that would be appropriate).
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

Warm regards,

Thank you

Dear Families,

I hope you all enjoyed your snow day!  I was able to spend the day cleaning and organizing my office at home :) At the bottom of one of my piles I found the notes, gift cards and hand made presents that you all so generously gave me before winter break on top of a stack of blank thank you notes. Apparently, winter break got the better of me and I failed to write them. Please forgive me. I am so appreciative of your  care and thought for me. It is amazing to be a part of such a supportive community. Thank you

Emily
